His area of expertise is Oculoplastic surgery having trained at international centres of excellence by leaders in the field. As a dual-trained surgeon, he combines the precision of intraocular micro-surgery and the aesthetic and reconstructive aspects of plastic surgery.  This blend of training provides an essential balance between cosmetic and corrective surgery while maintaining the natural form and function of the eyelid.

Education and Training

Ophthalmology appealed to him due to the combination of both medical treatments and surgical procedures which can hugely improve a person’s quality of life. He was accepted on to the Irish specialist training programme at RVEEH.

Following years of intensive training, being proficiency in all areas of ophthalmology, he was subsequently enrolled as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI(Ophth)). He is also a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). Subsequently, he pursued subspecialisation in oculoplastic surgery at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, UK in 2019.

He embarked on 2 further years of fellowship training at the Orbit, Plastics & Lacrimal (OPAL) unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne and The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. This further deepened his expertise through exposure to a high volume of complex cases, learning niche skills and gaining valuable experience working with highly respected mentors.
