Paediatric Oculoplastic Surgery
As part of the Irish College of Ophthalmologists (ICO) annual summer meeting, I was honoured to be invited to give the SOE lecture this year.
The European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) Lecture is a platform for a new appointee to deliver on a topic of their own interest relevant to the ICO audience.
During my fellowship training in Manchester & Melbourne I witnessed firsthand the benefits of facilitating Oculoplastics surgery for paediatric patients within a dedicated children's hospital. That's why I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to update the ICO audience on the service we established at CHI Crumlin in July 2022.
My presentation also covered my approach to managing the most common paediatric oculoplastic conditions. Streamlining care for children with complex medical needs and utilising dedicated facilities has been a game-changer in our efforts to provide the best possible care for our young patients.
Thank you to the College for this incredible opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with fellow ophthalmologists.
